Zucchini season starts

This year I tried climbing Zucchini in the garden as the regular community garden plot was not available, and have started getting tons of little zucchinis on the go and will soon be harvesting the first ones. The plant has spread and is growing all over the staircase and is with the cucumbers and some Morning Glory.

Morning Glorious

The Morning Glory lives up to it's name and each day we are greeted with lovely purple and pink flowers trailing in the vines and around the arch in the middle of the garden.

Catching 5

Houdini takes a break and snoozes beside the bird bath on a nice summer day. I definately envy the life of a cat ( in a good home ).

Hanging out & looking for trouble

The boys hang around in the back corner of the yard waiting to see if any butterflies or birds appear .... or anything else that looks fun to chase.

OCD with a ball

Angelina has not slowed down at all this year with her fascination of playing fetch. Of course this being a cat ( and not a dog ), she directs the action by bringing the ball to where she wants to throw it from, and then points herself in the direction she wants you to throw it.... and does this for quite awhile until either she gets bored or distracted.

Do cats like celery?

Romeo is fascinated with either the celery or some bug in the garden..... the cats seem more interested in chasing things that move and digging than eating the plants.

More colors and textures

It's fun having a big mix of different plants that give different colors and textures. Here we have everything from lettuce and impatients to lilies and horseradish!

Summer Lilies

All the hot weather has boosted the tomatoes (harvesting like crazy now) and the beautiful yellow lilies add a bright contrast.

Yummy!

One of the squirrels was hanging around so we decided to give him a treat of peanut butter.... and are pretty sure he was smacking his lips together for a few hours after.

Butterflies are fun-- and accidents happen

Romeo really loves the butterflies that check out the plants..... and must find them tasty as he as got quite a few this year.... next year the Peppers will be planted not as close to some of the other flowering plants as they suffered more than a few accidents from cats jumping on them.

Play time

Angelina and Houdini play some more in the back, leading to another big chase scene around the yard and through the house. Atleast at the end of the day the kitties are usually exhausted and are pretty low key.

Danger Zone

With having 3 cats, things are a little dangerous for the birds who might want to check out the feeders ( more than a few casualties so far this year ) and as you can see the beasts know where to hang around if they want to hunt the birds.

Romeo hanging around

Romeo has found his balance with the other kitties and is hanging around and enjoying the jungle. Fun and games for all.

Now if we could just convince the little pest to stop getting up at the crack of dawn it would be just a bit easier.

Ahh the joys of cool green grass

Houdini loves to flake out and enjoy rolling around on the grass and playing the big goof. With a mug like that you can't help but find him cute and adorable and HUGE.

Hiding amongst the peppers

Angelina keeps track of the veggies and has been on a mission annihilating many a butterfly or other flying bugs this year.... and bringing most of her " trophies" into the house to share with us.

Glorious vines

The Morning Glory is trailing all over the back and there are 4 huge pots in the middle that are in beautiful bloom each morning. You can see the little pest hiding in the left corner waiting for them birds.

Blasts of color

We tried a few different things this year and have different blasts of color all over the garden and this cool effect on the back stairs.

Catching up

Summer is zipping along and the Urban Jungle is growing like crazy. The weather has been hot and humid for the most part and the plants are taking full advantage of the growing season.
